My mother was a lifetime member of the National Audubon Society, and birding was her passion. Because of and in honor of her, my husband and I began providing the use of he and our boat for the shore/sea bird portion of the Annual Xmas bird count on behalf of the Santa Barbara chapter. Doing this sparked our interest to start birding ourselves. Having this book would enhance our bird education, but also be a daily reminder of my beloved Mom and her passion!

When I was a child, my parents bought me binoculars because I loved to watch birds. Still do. My husband and I have followed Audubon's advice and left our yard "a little messy," and used no chemical, to help birds.

I live in England now and miss cardinals and blue jays and so many other birds folk take for granted, these illustrations bring them to life, just breath-taking.

What a fantastic book, fully of great visual reference pieces. This should be a piece in my library. I will buy it if I don't get luck enough to win. :)
