Birds Make the Art, Part 8

For a treat on this Tuesday, some awesome bird art. It’ll break up the day, cause it’s really quite smart. Enjoy this eighth installment of our Birds Make the Art series.

Artwork by Alex Spinney
Philadelphia-based artist Spinney uses oil paints and glazes to create large-scale depictions of birds. She says she’s “fascinated by the representation and calculation of beauty and grandeur” and thinks of bird feathers as costume.

Artwork by Renée Dawson
Dawson is a Prince Edward County-based artist, portrait photographer, and lover of birds and nature. This mother of two recently switched from traditional drawing and acrylic/oil painting to digital fine art.

Artwork by Arlene Powers
Powers’ artwork comes from her passion for birds. “My exposure to the natural world,” she says, “has helped me realize that most of the plights of our feathered, furred, and scaled brothers and sisters are caused by humankind.”
