In scientific circles, anthropomorphizing—ascribing human traits to animals—has long been frowned upon. Serious scientists must stay cool, distanced, and above all else, objective. Thus, if a wildlife biologist has a guilty pleasure, BBC’s “Walk on the Wildside” might be it. This British comedy series, featuring dubbed in voices with real nature footage, ran on BBC One in 2009 and 2010, but it lives on in the world of YouTube for our continued enjoyment. From a giant tortoise impersonating Jamie Oliver and head-banging spoonbills to a capuchin monkey working as a dentist and a chipmunk who raps, these clips give all of us a chance to indulge a little.
