I am an artist specializing

I am an artist specializing in Iowa wildlife and landscapes depicting Iowa's oai savannahs. A guide like this would be very welcome and help me to better depict Iowa's birds, on both land and waterways.

In a one-size-fits-all

In a one-size-fits-all society in which it's difficult to find your destiny, my young nephew, Lee, spends all his free time studying birds, convinced he will be an ornithologist some day. Law's drawing guide will give him a leg up. Lee has the time and the drive to learn. He's fortunate to live in a rural area of NH where birds fly into his Lake Winnipesaukee back yard. He pours through books and asks frequently to take hikes in local preserves. It's our job to recognize his abilities and give him the appropriate tools.

Drawing requires looking.

Drawing requires looking. Details like color and location of color, shape of wing and bill, and flight patterns can easily be missed when simply observing. Paper forces you to look carefully and cements your learning.

I have also loved drawing

I have also loved drawing since I could hold a pencil. I love bird's too and have many bird feeders at my home. I now have grandchildren who love to draw. I've been showing them different bird's and how to draw them. This book would be perfect for us!

There are a number of artists

There are a number of artists in my family, including my mother, myself, my youngest sister and her daughter. A copy of this book would be shared around, providing several individuals an opportunity to learn the techniques. Then, at some future date, it could be donated or given away to another promising artist or group of artists.

Looks like a very nice book.

Looks like a very nice book. Learning how to study a bird for drawing might even help improve bird identification skills.

I'm new to watching birds,

I'm new to watching birds, which I do most often with a camera, however I used to draw all the time and it sounds like a fun way to round out my enjoyment of my little companions.
