Red-shouldered Hawk

I had my first close encounter with a red-shouldered hawk in the forests of Carmel, New York, this April.

my grandson and I were

my grandson and I were sitting outside one day (he likes to sit in the garage and look out) watching for birds. A bald eagle flew directly over our heads. i clearly saw it was an eagle. it had something clutched in its talons but i could not tell exactly what it was. it looked like a very large rat but i an not positive. really cool thing to see.l
