The first book in our avian library was The Birds of America by John James Audubon, published by THE MACMILLAN COMPANY 1965. Inspiring, it led to nearly 40 years of wild bird rescue and rehabilitation. To be fortunate enough to win Audubon's Aviary could only increase our love of birds.

Audubon's Aviary

I collect historical graphics of natural history topics, and I'm familiar, of course, with Audubon's paintings, but it would be stimulating and instructive to follow his path through watercolors with this wonderful book.

Would be a wonderful book to have at home. I had a persnickity Great-Aunt who drove me crazy teaching me about birds when I was a child. One of my prize possessions is a print of blue-birds, but I did not get any of the many coffee table books about birds.
